Ivory Coast Cocoa Exports Down 2.8% as of February 20

Ivory Coast’s raw cocoa bean exports reached 1.011 million metric tons as of February 20, according to two government officials and a source at the Coffee and Cocoa Council (CCC).

This represents a 2.8% decline compared to the same period last year, when exports totaled 1.040 million metric tons.

Although cocoa arrivals at Ivorian ports have slowed in recent weeks due to declining international prices, export volumes remain relatively steady.

However, both countries are currently facing mounting pressure from high unsold inventories. Large cocoa stocks accumulated in recent months as global prices retreated sharply.

International cocoa prices have fallen approximately 50% since the start of the year, recently touching a near three-year low amid continued stock build-ups at major ports.

Market participants are now watching closely to see whether the recent slowdown in arrivals will help rebalance supply conditions in the coming months.
