Cocoa Slides Despite Stronger-Than-Expected Grindings (16 October 2026)
Cocoa erased Thursday’s gains on Friday as both markets settled near the bottom of their daily ranges. New York December fell $186 (3.19%) to $5,645/t after trading between $5,625 and $5,861, while London December lost £141 (3.23%) to £4,221/t within a £4,202–£4,365 range. London’s intraday recovery gave way to a sharp late-session sell-off, followed by only a partial rebound. December also weakened against deferred contracts in both markets, widening nearby contango and leaving buyers with limited evidence that Thursday’s recovery had established sustained support.
