Favorable Weather Conditions Support Ivory Coast’s Mid-Crop Cocoa Development

Recent weather patterns in Ivory Coast, combining consistent rainfall with intermittent sunshine, have created favorable conditions for the country’s mid-crop cocoa production. Farmers report that these conditions have supported strong crop development across most cocoa-growing regions.

The mid-crop season, which runs from March through August, is progressing well so far. Producers are optimistic that harvesting will begin gradually in the coming weeks, with expectations of a solid yield driven by healthy tree conditions and good pod formation.

Although rainfall last week was generally above average nationwide, farmers noted that continued precipitation will be necessary to ensure optimal crop maturation. The peak harvest period is anticipated between May and July, making sustained moisture levels critical in the coming months.

Regional variations in rainfall were observed. Areas such as the eastern region recorded higher-than-average precipitation, benefiting plantation conditions. Meanwhile, some southern zones experienced below-average rainfall, though overall crop performance remains stable.

In central and western regions, rainfall was sufficient to maintain crop health, and farmers do not expect any disruptions to harvesting activities. Many reported that pods are nearing maturity, reinforcing expectations for a smooth transition into the harvesting phase.

Temperatures during the past week remained within a typical range, supporting crop development without causing stress to cocoa trees.

The outlook for Ivory Coast’s mid-crop cocoa season remains positive, provided that favorable weather conditions persist through the critical growth and harvesting period.
