Raw Sugar Advances as France Cuts Beet Forecast (13 October 2026)
Raw sugar extended Monday’s rally on Tuesday, while nearby whites made only a small gain. New York March 2027 raw sugar settled at 21.11 cents/lb, up 0.26 cent, or 1.25%, after trading between 20.58 and 21.18. London December 2026 white sugar gained $1.20, or 0.21%, to $561.90/t, within a $549.60–567.10 range.
Raws finished 0.07 cent below their session high and above Monday’s 20.89-cent high. December whites settled $5.20 below their own high and just below Monday’s $562.00 upper boundary. Both markets approached, but failed to exceed, the 7 October highs of 21.24 cents and $567.70/t. The stronger raw finish contrasts with the limited follow-through in the nearby white contract.
| Market | Tuesday volume | Change from Monday | Confirmed OI: 12 October | OI change vs 9 October |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Raw sugar | 124,313 | +8.06% | 1,165,662 | +4,406 |

Raw turnover expanded for a second session, while white volume eased. The newly available Monday open-interest figures show that outstanding positions increased during Monday’s rally in both markets. They do not identify the participants responsible, and Tuesday’s open interest remains unavailable.
The raw March–May premium widened another 0.03 cent to 0.88 cent/lb. In whites, December’s discount to March widened by $3.80 to $11.00/t, surrendering much of Monday’s improvement. March whites gained $5.00 to $572.90/t, substantially outperforming December.
The matched March white-over-raw futures premium slipped to $107.50/t from $108.24. Nearby raw strength therefore continued without a corresponding improvement in the matched white premium, while the white curve placed more of Tuesday’s gains in later delivery months.
