Sugar Extends Recovery and Brazil Reports Lower October Output (28 October 2026)
White sugar led a second day of recovery on Wednesday, regaining more of Monday’s sharp losses than raws. March raw sugar rose 0.73% to 19.34 cents/lb, while December whites gained 1.25% to $525.70/tonne. Both made higher highs and higher lows than Tuesday.
| Contract | Settlement | Daily change | Session range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Raw sugar March 2027 | 19.34¢/lb | +0.14¢ / +0.73% | 19.20–19.51¢ |
| White sugar December 2026 | $525.70/t | +$6.50 / +1.25% | $518.40–530.70 |
The London recovery was more convincing at settlement. December whites finished above Tuesday’s $523.50 high and traded into Monday’s gap between $529.70 and $531.50, although they retreated from the session peak. March raws briefly exceeded Tuesday’s 19.42-cent high but settled below it, leaving their 19.89–20.02-cent gap untouched.
Over the two recovery sessions, March raws regained approximately 21% of Monday’s decline, compared with 53% for December whites. Both remained below Friday’s settlements.
May raws rose 0.17 cent to 18.81 cents and July gained the same amount to 18.42. March whites advanced $7.30 to $538.70/tonne and May added $7.10 to $543.50. London’s gains extended along the curve, reversing Tuesday’s weakness in deferred contracts.
